SpongeBob SquarePants is an American Television series about a sponge whose drive and outlook on life is one that makes the show an 11 year success story.

SpongeBob very seldom lets things get him down. SpongeBob always tries to find the good in every situation. Even when circumstances would drive an ordinary person mad, SpongeBob perseveres. He has been unable to pass his driving school test after hundreds of times, but still he continues.

He works with Squidward Tentacles who is a trumpet player/artist want to be who is unable to realize that he has no talent whatsoever. In one episode, he tries to teach SpongeBob art and SpongeBob does better than Squidward.

SpongeBob has a childlike innocence to his character. He is very trusting and kind, so he is unable to recognize it when people take advantage of him. Two of the worst are his own boss - Mr. Eugene Krabs - owner of the Krusty Krab where SpongeBob works and Plankton who is always trying to get SpongeBob to help him steal the Krabby Patty secret formula.

Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob's boss, is a mean, greedy miser, who would sell his own mother for a dime. In fact he once sold SpongeBob to the ghostly Flying Dutchman for several cents and constantly charges SpongeBob for things like tying his shoes and breathing.

Squidward resents SpongeBob because he is always happy and Squidward isn't. Squidward looks at the mediocrity of his life, seeing it isn't where he wants it to be.

Patrick Star is a large, stupid starfish. He is SpongeBob's best friend and the two meld together well. However, Patrick, starts a lot of arguments over things because he is forgetful. Such as the time he scarfed down a chocolate bar and then forgot it and blamed SpongeBob for taking his.

Sandy Cheeks is land squirrel. She wears a special pressurized suit to survive underwater. She lives in the tree dome which is a special underwater home that is filled with air and even has a tree which she lives in. When SpongeBob comes to visit her he has to have a water helmet over his head because he may dry out without it.
